The fleece is originally sourced from home grown Karoo sheep, it then begins its journey to Port Elizabeth for scouring and then Cape Town where the wool is hand-spun, hand-dyed and hand-knitted.
Variation in texture is achieved depending on the range of weaving and the technique which the weavers employ on their looms.
Hand-dyed fibres, embodying the raw energy of nature are inspired by the earth’s elements – colour shades vary from ebony, mahogany, sand, grass, stone, dust, bone, fire, sky, water, amethyst, quartz and coal.
The knitters are free to exercise their creativity, being able to combine or juxtapose traditional motifs as they see fit. Their only guideline being defined by mythology and the magic of Africa – resulting in the individual creation of an all encompassing, warm, tactile, wearing experience.
